Clothing....designing it, making it, and wearing it have been passions of mine since childhood. Learning the basics of sewing and knitting from my mother, I quickly began to design and make my own clothing. In 1985 I started a hand knit sweater company, which catered to specialty boutiques around the country. I produced my own sweater designs and eventually incorporated women’s clothing as well. After 15 years of manufacturing, I finally decided to follow my next desire, to have my own boutique. Kate opened in the Summer of 2001, and is located in my home town of Santa Barbara, California. It has evolved into a destination shop for the woman who appreciates a unique and special experience. Kate attracts those who are sophisticated, elegant, self-assured and understated, yet imaginative and playful.
